The Velvet Underground - Heroin
The Velvet Underground is one of the bands that I respect the most. Not just because Andy Warhol managed it, but because of musical legacy they left. They have been considered among the most influential bands in rock history.
Their 1967 debut album, titled “The Velvet Underground & Nico” was named the 13th “Greatest Album os All Time’” and the “most prophetic rock album ever made.” Rolling Stone ranked the band #19 on its list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. In 1996 they were inducted into “The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”
Heroin, written by Lou Reed, is one of the band’s most celebrated compositions. This song has never grown old on me but it grown with me. It has is the most truthful message I think out there about heroin use. I love the fact that Lou Reed doesn’t say something is good or bad, he just goes, hey here it is, you decide.
